Interaural cues are minimal underwater. Paper examines proposed alternate hypotheses for directional hearing in fish. Experiment shows sensitivity to particle pressure and particle motion. Results show both cues are indispensable for this behaviour and d. cerebrum has sensory structures to implement this mechanism. These structures are shared with more than 15% of living vertebrate species.
