The PAMGUARD software was tested on the Fairfield New Venture, an exploration and production (E&P) Industry seismic source vessel conducting a wide-azimuth, multisource, seismic survey in the Gulf of Mexico from 8 – 18 November 2008. The primary objectives of the trial were to: 1. Verify the effectiveness of PAMGUARD as a mitigation monitoring tool. 2. Test PAM towed array deployment from an operational seismic source vessel during a survey. 3. Test PAMGUARD algorithms in the presence of an operational seismic airgun source. 4. Identify and fix bugs in the PAMGUARD code Secondary objectives were to: 5. Compare acoustic detections with visual MMO data. 6. Compare with other PAM software packages (IFAWs RainbowClick and Ishmael).
