Body Composition of Common Bottlenose Dolphins in Sarasota Bay, Florida
Adamczak, S.K., Holser, R.R., Costa, D.P., Berens McCabe, E.J., and Wells, R.S.
Study of variations in body composition in bottlenose dolphins as a proxy for population health. Results show high degree of seasonality in body composition with correlations between sea surface temperature and catch per unit effort (as a proxy of prey availability). Ontogeny also greatly affected body composition. As such, breeding populations can be vulnerable to anthropogenic disturbances to energy budget.
